WE are making progress, honestly, we’ve had to wait on parts from the states and a few last bits to bring the build together. Our original bonnet was unfortunately unsalvageable so we had a new one made and decided to change the design of the scoop slightly while we were at it. Custom glass has been our bugbear, but most of it is in now including the roof – the front windscreen is the last main thing we’re waiting on and is due in the next few weeks.
As far as the interior goes headlining and A, B, C pillars are all done and the original seats and door cards have been cleaned up all ready to go back into the car. The mess of wires has been sorted, updated and thinned out and we’re just getting ready to put the stereo in. We’ve cleaned up the original dials and refurbished the surrounds, all of which look really strong against the clean body-coloured dash.
Since our launch at Ace Cafe London last month we’ve had some great press including a build article in Retro Ford Magazine. Also the appearance of our custom chopped MK2 Cortina at the beginning of For The Love of Cars every week has certainly intrigued people, which is exactly what we hoped for. We also love talking to you all on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram discussing the progress of the build, what we’re planning next and hearing all about your own projects. We update pretty much everyday, sharing what we’re up to so if you’re on social media look us up.
So it won’t be long now folks, project 1 will be finished very soon and ready for a new home (although the keys might have to be prized out of our hands, we’ve grown quite fond of this custom Cortina!) To catch up on the build so far check out our gallery and get in touch though social media for regular petrol head related chatter…
